ShAFF - The podcast

As we are sure you're aware, as part of the ShAFF event this weekend in Sheffield we've teamed up with Peaty to bring you his Steel City DH race and photo and video comp, but the Sheffield Adventure Film Festival is much more than just this and to explain more about what it's all about, introduce you to some of people involved and generally have a good natter about everything, they've made a podcast.

Sheffield Adventure Film Festival organiser Matt Heason's teamed up with former Radio 4 producer, Lissa Cook to launch a new free outdoors / adventure sports podcast series.

Lissa and her adventure sports writer husband and ShAFF judge, Nik Cook, talk to adventurers and athletes including US endurance mountain bike champ Rebecca Rusch; UK Olympic cyclist Nick Craig; ultra-runner Stephen Pyke who ran 283 Munros in a record breaking 40 days; acclaimed climber & photographer, Ian Parnell; ex Marine, Phil Harwood who canoed 3000 miles down the Congo from source to see; and top rock climber, Leo Houlding.

The interviews can be either streamed on the Heason Events website (http://www.heason.net/Podcasts/)  or downloaded from the iTunes store (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/heason-eventss-boos/id418197248).

Matt says:  “Running a film festival’s taught me that the stories behind the films are the most important element of any successful adventure film.  Hearing from the film-makers and the adventurers who star in them adds an extra element to the mix.   And there’s undoubtedly an appetite for it - our interview with Leo Houlding just a couple of days after he topped out on his first ascent of The Prophet after a decade of trying had 20,000 hits.”

Lissa says:  “The beauty of audio podcasts is you can listen wherever you are - whether you’re in the car or out on a run.  Everyone loves a good story and we hope this series will inspire people to get out there and find their own adventures.”
